All Methodologies include critical outputs that line up with the similar phase of the project lifecycle.
A phase is a distinct division between types of work. A milestone is a significant deliverable point, several of which may occur within a phase. Each milestone requires a Tollgate/Check Point. A tollgate is a standardized control point where the project phase is reviewed/audited and approved/denied before continuing to the next phase.
The Project Manager working with the Sponsor and Project Team will determine the best methodology for a project.
