University Health and Safety.

University Health and Safety monitors the University's physical environment to ensure safe and healthy working and living conditions for University of Minnesota students, staff, faculty, and community neighbors. Whether setting up an ergonomically sound workstation for a University employee, safely removing hazardous waste, or making sure that a newly constructed building is safe for occupancy, University Health and Safety officials create a healthier campus.

Building Code Division
Building Code Officials inspect University buildings and systems to ensure code compliance and regular maintenance. Building Code Officials work with local, state, and federal officials to retain key permits and ensure that regulations are being met.

Environmental Health and Safety
Through a variety of activities, the Department of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) ensures the safety of the University of Minnesota community. EHS works to prevent pollution through the safe use, transport, and disposal of hazardous waste; creates safe working environments through office and lab evaluation and ergonomic assessments, develops a safe living and working environment through fire protection, indoor air quality monitoring, food, water, and housing safety programs, and a variety of training programs in laboratory and chemical safety.
