Center for Sustainable Building Research
In the interest of advancing sustainable design practices, the University of Minnesota’s Center for Sustainable Building Research (CSBR) conducts research and leads outreach programs on topics ranging from the University’s overall level of ecological consciousness to specifics such as energyefficient windows. With projects sponsored by organizations such as the United States Department of Energy and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, the Center has evaluated the performance and design of many buildings throughout the state, as well as conducted research on energy efficiency of materials and glazings.
By creating sustainable design and materials guides, in addition to formulating guidelines for state-funded buildings, CSBR emphasizes the importance of making these resources accessible, enabling students and practicing designers to incorporate tested sustainable practices into their work.
