University Services Star Performers

Since 1999, University Services has recognized outstanding employees and teams of employees with Star Performer Awards.

We invite Star Performer nominations from faculty, staff and students on the Twin Cities campus. Each year we receive an impressive list of nominees from all across University Services. No matter where the nominees work or what they do, a few common themes ran through each nomination form:

First, Star Performers exceed expectations by going above and beyond their day-to-day tasks. Star Performers pay attention to details, they seek solutions to problems, and provide a high level of commitment when they perform their work.

Star Performers are also committed to outstanding customer service and take the time to understand the needs of students, staff, faculty and visitors and to meet their needs consistently and effectively.

Third, Star Performers take the initiative and find innovative ways to save time and money either through new ideas or new ways to do ongoing tasks. Star Performers typically work to solve a problem before it becomes a larger issue.

And finally, Star Performers are rock-solid reliable. They consistently get the job done right, on time, the first time. Star Performers don’t let their customers – or their coworkers – down.

Star Performers are those people who demonstrate the values of University Services in the way they do their jobs every day. They are the living, breathing examples of excellence, integrity, accountability and stewardship that the University of Minnesota community has come to expect from University Services.

The Star Performer generally begins in September with the opening of nominations. After a thorough review, we select Star Performer and recognize them at the University Services Fall Leadership Forum. All employees of University Services are eligible to be nominated for Star Performer Awards. Nominees can be an individual or a team of employees.
