Facilities Management.

Facilities Management is responsible for managing the physical assets of the University to ensure a quality environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors in support of the University's mission of teaching, research and outreach. Fixing leaky faucets, routine office cleaning and managing the systems that power the University are just some of the services provided by Facilities Management.

Building Services
The Building Services unit consists of the Custodial Program, Waste Management and Asbestos Abatement, Recycling Program, ReUse Center, Hazardous Materials Management, and Equipment Maintenance and Repairs.

Building Systems Automation Center (BSAC)
Building Systems Automation Center, a division of Facilities Management, provides 24 hour response to building alarms and emergency situations ensuring the safety and comfort of University staff and students.

Business and Applications Support Unit (BAS)
The BAS Web site is designed to offer information regarding the use of COMPASS in University of Minnesota Facilities Management's day to day operations. Users of this Web site will find information about Facilities Management work flows, detailed step by step procedures for entering information into COMPASS, and Business Unit specific information. This information is found in Process, Procedure, and Practice documents linked with this Web site.

Energy Management
The Energy Management unit is made up of utilities, energy conservation, records, and engineering. The mission of Energy Management is to manage energy from the source to point of use in a manner that provides a comfortable, reliable environment to support the mission of the University.

 

Landcare
The Landcare group consists of gardeners and grounds workers who maintain the turf, flower beds, trees and shrubs on the 1,000 acres of the Twin Cities campus. The staff also handles new small to medium-sized landscape projects and the renewal of existing campus landscape features, keeping our university beautiful.

Maintenance Operations
The Maintenance Operations unit of FM consists of the campus zones, maintenance programs, deferred maintenance, R & R, the Elevator Shop, and the Signs and Graphics Unit.

Safety
Those that work in FM's Safety unit are dedicated to showing their commitment to our employees by continuously working towards improving the safety of our workplace.

Quality and Work Control (QWC)
This unit encompasses the FM Call Center, customer service follow-up, and measures and monitoring.
